Audubon was formed almost 100 years ago by citizens who banded together to protest the killing of birds whose beautiful feathers graced "fashionable" hats. The group's outcry ultimately led to the end of these practices and the creation of Audubon – one of the nation's most effective environmental organizations.
The passion and spirit of Audubon's founders remains today through those who make our voice stronger – Audubon members and friends. A powerful state presence ensures that Audubon's vision of a healthy natural world is heard by other citizens, industry, and government.
Audubon members in Colorado have been an active force in advocating for nature for many years. Since establishing a state program just two years ago, Audubon Colorado has invested its efforts in numerous issues where wildlife and habitat are at risk. We have been steadfast in our efforts to protect the interests of nature by working with both industry and government.
Through our annual legislative workshop, phone trees, and action alerts, Audubon Colorado makes every effort to ensure that citizens across the state are aware of wildlife and habitat issues as they arise.
